Baiada Center Entrepreneurial Skills Workshop/November 15 The Laurence A. Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship Presents How the Entrepreneur Gets the Message Out: Public Relations for the Startup Workshop Leader: Joel Capperella, VP, Marketing at Yoh, a Day and Zimmermann Company Tuesday, November 15, 2011 5 - 7 pm Laurence A. Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship 3225 Arch Street, Ground Floor Drexel University's Main Campus Marketing dollars for startups are frequently non-existent; yet driving the narrative of the solution is critical to success. How can the well-funded entrepreneur properly prioritize what and where PR investments will be made, and is it even possible for the bootstrapped entrepreneur to make headway with broadcasting their message? The answer to both questions is to increase the ability to continuously and methodically push the message that the targeted marketplace is poised to hear, and taking advantage of the many free platforms that enables the broadcast. From compelling trend establishing positions to the development of an ecosystem of likeminded customers, PR may not need any dollars in order to produce a successful result. Joel Capperella has two decades of experience mastering the needs of the technology marketplace, translating them into practical product/service offerings, and articulating them to the buying community to drive revenue. Joel has served as Sr. Industry Marketing lead for Primavera (now Oracle Primavera) and as Industry Principal for SAP where he led efforts to penetrate untapped segments of the professional services market place. His business development methodologies and go to market strategies have been used to penetrate multiple disparate industries including health and life sciences, high-tech, professional services, aerospace and defense, public sector, engineering services, and telecommunications. More recently by fully embracing the disruptive reality of digital and social media, he has pioneered techniques that leverage content development to drive the positioning narrative, public relations and the sales process. His work has appeared in an assortment of media outlets, including Business Week, Computer World, Network World, CIT Magazine, The Federal Times, CRM Today, HRO Today, Retail Merchandiser and Talent Management. Currently Joel is running strategic marketing for Yoh, a professional technical staffing provider in Philadelphia. His marketing team practices the methodologies Joel teaches and can be seen in action at the Seamless Workforce Blog http://www.seamlessworkforce.com. His thoughts on product management, marketing, go to market strategy and inbound marketing can be found at Inflection Methods http://www.inflectionmethods.com. Joel holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Delaware, and has completed graduate equivalent coursework in philosophy and theology at the University of Eichstatt in Bavaria.
