The Breakthrough Innovation Challenge provides University of Hawaii students and faculty the opportunity to 1) bring attention and recognition to their innovations; 2) network with community leaders and others who may be helpful in the further development of the innovation; and 3) win cash prizes. Competitors first submit a 2-minute video that describes their innovation. After a preliminary judging, the top videos are selected to move on to a final round. Finalists are paired with a business coach, who will assist the team with a pitch that describes the potential commercial application of the innovation. Finalists will present their pitches and compete for cash prizes on November 17 at the Shidler College of Business.
