During Global Entrepreneurship Week, DECA sponsored daily questions referring to marketing/entrepreneurship in the daily announcements. The purpose of this activity was to promote and inform students about all the successful entrepreneurs and interesting unknown facts about entrepreneurship. Listed below are some examples that were used during the week. 1.Who started a pasta sauce business in Cleveland, Ohio and later became a well-known food brand that is spelled the way it sounds? Hector Bioardi 2.Who was the original inventor of the cash register? James Ritty of Dayton, Ohio. The cash register was invented in 1867. 3.What bottled product did Henry Heinz start selling to Pittsburgh residents in 1869 that led to the creation of H.J. Heinz, Inc.? Horseradish. Heinz introduced the phrase '57 varieties' in 1896. 4.Who, in 1879 was superintendent of the Battle Creek Sanitarium which practiced 'biologic living' and 'natural medicine? John Kellogg. 5.Mattel, Inc., the world's largest toy manufacturer, got its start in 1945. What was the company's first product? Picture frames. The company got its name by combining letters of the last and first names of its founders, Harold Matson and Elliot Handler.
