Spark Event: Penn State $50 Challenge

Are you up for the $50 challenge? Think you are Street Smart? Time to find out! The Penn State $50 challenge scheduled during GE Week showcases the true spirit of Entrepreneurship. This challenge will immerse the students into being creative, thinking outside the box, embracing team work and trying out various ideas to build on the given $50 capital, while creating value for people, generating income by executing ideas in the allocated 48 hours. The most exciting part of the challenge is that participants can keep their hard earned money minus the $50 capital or donate it to their favorite charity. The $50 challenge will have 40 students participate and is open to all Penn State students. This challenge aims to create an entrepreneurial mindset while being a fun and fruitful experience for all the participants. The teams will be showing the activities they did and the impact made at the end of the challenge. These attributes makes this event a highly exciting one as well the one that will have students really interested in participating. Theme: Engage – Participate – Contribute – Lead! Event Kickoff: Monday, Nov.12th 2012 - 12:15 pm to 1:30 pm at Kunkle Lounge Hammond Building Event End Date: Wednesday Nov 14th 2012 -12:30 – 1:30 pm. Team presentations FREE for Students to participate! Come have fun!! Pizza provided both days. Walk away at the end of the event with $$ for your team, or donate it to a selected charity! Event Rules and Guidelines - 8 Teams with up to 5 Members per team (40 participants) - Teams will be randomly assigned based on the students semester status (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) - Sign up will be offered through social media and at the HUB information tables during GE week. Watch for announcements: https://www.facebook.com/GEweekatPennState - Each Team will be given $50 at the start of the event, plus a set of regulations and guidelines they should follow. The goal: use the $50 capital to create value for people, generate income by being creative and grow your money as much as you can in the allocated 48 hours! - The teams must document their activities and demonstrate the impact their team made Each team must be ready to present their work on the 14th. - Teams get to keep the money raised or donate to a charity, minus the initial capital of $50 that needs to be returned to the GE Week organizers. - All students participating will be given a cool Entrepreneurship themed t-shirt ** Pizza will also be provided for all the participants on both days ** Why participate in this Spark Event $50 challenge? - A great opportunity for Team Building - Opportunity to demonstrate your creativity - Make friends and network. - Bragging rights and Media Attention.
