The 2012 Idea Challenge is a fast-paced competition that challenges secondary and college-aged student teams to find a new use for a common, everyday item creating the most value possible in eight days. The challenge is an innovative, idea generation exercise for students. It fits into most curricula and is a great class assignment for formal or extra credit or extra-curricular activity. Although geared toward secondary and college-aged students, elementary schools/organizations are encouraged to participate. On November 7, DECA Inc. will announce a common, everyday item that affects the United States. Student teams will have eight days to create as much value as possible based on this common, everyday item and on November 16 submit up to a three-minute video on YouTube conveying the value you have created. A panel of judges will select national winners, who will receive recognition on both the DECA Inc. and Global Entrepreneurship Week Web sites.
