Jane Plitt has done extensive work in Rochester to open business opportunities to women and is a visiting scholar at the University. Her book, Martha Matilda Harper: How One Woman Changed the Face of Modern Business, was published by Syracuse University Press in 2000. Plitt's presentation will highlight how successful businesses have improved society without compromising the pursuit of profit both in the United States and throughout the world—a concept called social entrepreneurship. The event is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow in the Eisenberg Rotunda, Schlegel Hall. For additional information, call (585) 276-3500. Raffaella Borasi, dean of the Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester, will present a revised evaluation tool developed during the Kauffman Foundation grant. It provides a framework for evaluating initiatives, including strategic planning processes. Dean Borasi will introduce the tool, use a completed initiative to demonstrate the process, and then solicit feedback for continued improvements.
