"In it to Win It" Training: Is Your Big Idea an Opportunity?

This event is for those interested in applying or learning more about the Henry A. Panasci Jr Technology Entrepreneurship Competition. Training will be provided on two topics: "Is Your Big Idea an Opportunity?" & "Opportunity Shaping." Learn about: market and margin issues, competitive advantage, overall potential, quick screen profile, opportunity research and opportunity strategy statement and lastly, competitive landscape. Undergraduate and Graduate students with innovative ideas should apply. Blake Mycoskie Lecture

Blake Mycoskie, TOMS Shoes founder and Chief Shoe Giver, visits as a speaker for the 26th annual UB Distinguished Speaker Series. Blake is a true social entrepreneur and his book, "Start Something that Matters" is the 2012 UB Reads selection. His visit is the perfect culmination of events for Global Entrepreneurship Week. UB's Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership is the headline sponsor for Blake's speaking engagement.
The Innovation Challenge

Student teams are challenged to a 'big idea' competition in which they are given a problem to solve. A trainer guides them through the stages of the creative problem-solving process, while they compete to come up with the most innovative idea. Art and Entrepreneurship

An event to engage Art students. The assigned task is to create a work of art in response to the word entrepreneurship. Medium is the student or participant's preference. The following basic themes of entrepreneurship can be used: opportunity recognition, creativity, problem solving, risk taking, resourcefulness and passion for ideas. Speed Networking with Local Entrepreneurs

A lunchtime event in which approximately 20 local entrepreneurs from the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership network have brief, timed meetings with UB students to network and discuss relevant topics. This event is designed to give students a hands on approach to learning about entrepreneurship and to get them acquainted with the idea that it is a viable career path.
