Carnival Cruise Lines building – 2:00pm-5:00pm Startup Florida Launch Startup Florida is a new initiative to spur and accelerate the creation of new businesses which leverage technology in industries such as Healthcare, Renewable Energy and Sports Management. This initiative is based on the Startup America program announced by the White House in January 2011. Startup Florida partners are InternetCoast, Enterprise Development Corp of South Florida, IBM Corp and St. Thomas University School of Business. Attendees will be entrepreneurs in the idea and start-up phases. Speakers include Manny Medina (former Chairman of Terremark); Manny Mencia (Senior VP of Enterprise Florida); and Claudia Munce, VP of IBM's Venture ?Capital Group.

3:00pm-7:00pm – Carnival Cruise Line Building The Student Competition is open to all students at St. Thomas University. There are two categories: the New Entrepreneur – which is the Idea Phase and the Developing Entrepreneur which is the Start-up Phase. Students can compete in teams and are required to have a business plan; a physical display; and a power point presentation. There will be cash prizes and consulting services for prize winners.
