The DECA Virtual Business Challenge is event where students use highly visual simulation software (like SimCity) to start up and manage a retail business. Students download software over the Internet at no charge and compete for the highest score (profit) against schools across the United States. The DECA Virtual Business Challenge (VBC) encourages DECA members to test their skills at running and managing a business individually or as a team. Participants do market research to learn about their location and potential customers, they purchase products, price them, merchandise them, advertise using various methods, keep inventory, review financial statements, and the many other functions with operating a retail store.

1 November 2011-21 November 2011
For one week, young people around the world join a growing movement of entrepreneurial people, to generate new ideas and to seek better ways of doing things. Countries across six continents come together to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), an initiative to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. Louisiana DECA and DECA Inc. in order to encourage participation in Global Entrepreneurship Week and to recognize chapters and members are pleased to introduce our new Global Entrepreneurship Week Campaign. We are asking DECA chapters to conduct school activities and community outreach activities dealing with entrepreneurship. In addition, schools must find former DECA members who are now entrepreneurs and interview them. The more you participate, the more the rewards and recognition. Conduct 2 school activities, 2 community activities and interview 2 alumni entrepreneurs to get to the Pinnacle Level. The Peak Level is 3-3-3 and the Summit Level is 5-5-5.
