3rd Annual Expo Negocio
Salem, Oregon
16 November 2012-17 November 2012
Now in its third year, the event will be hosted by the Latino Business Alliance and MERIT (MicroEnterprise Resources, Initiatives, and Training) on November 16 at the Chemeketa Center for Business and Industry located at 626 High Street NE, Salem, OR 97301. This event recognizes the contributions that Latino-owned businesses make to the local economy, provides educational opportunities in English and Spanish for Latino business owners, connects the larger community to the Latino business community by offering communication ideas for engagement, and creates a rich networking environment. Latinos are the largest and fastest growing ethnic minority in Oregon, representing over $4.5 billion in purchasing power in Oregon, a helpful fact for all business owners and economic developers. This event will be of interest to Latino-business owners interested in improving their businesses, individuals with an interest in starting a small business and community developers looking for ideas on how to more fully engage the Latino business community. The Friday conference features a luncheon with a guest panel of business owners discussing road tested ways to overcome barriers to business start-up and growth. In addition, workshops for business owners will be offered in Spanish and English; topics include start-up tips, marketing strategies and how to conduct business in a cross-cultural environment. Workshops will also provide community and business leaders valuable insight into communication ideas for incorporating the Latino business community into economic development efforts.
