Collegiate DECA Leadership Academy

Attendees will participate in discussions and consultation with business and industry leaders on preparing for today's marketplace. Students will be divided into case-study teams within each industry track. Through company and institution visits, corporate leader discussions and behind-the-scenes tours, you will learn the latest industry trends and apply them to your case study. Then your team will present your solutions in a panel of industry leaders, including members of the DECA National Advisory Board! Opening Session, November 15, 2012 5:00pm (Keynote Speaker — 30 minutes) Participants: 300 mostly college/university students (about 270), traditional and non-traditional The national officer team will kick-off the session with Idea Challenge 2012, a featured event of Global Entrepreneurship Week/USA.

DECA Innovations + Entrepreneurship Conference

A blend of workshops and competition, DECA’s Innovations and Entrepreneurship Conference will be the springboard for DECA members to unleash their ideas. The conference will foreshadow DECA’s coast-to-coast celebration of a hot topic in a visionary city as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. As the primary activity for the conference, DECA members will engage in an entrepreneurship challenge. In teams of four to five, DECA members will be given a scenario and challenged to deliver a 15-minute presentation to business executives serving as venture capitalists. Advisor(Teacher) Professional Development during the conference: The advisor workshop is designed to reinforce entrepreneurial concepts taught in marketing and business classes. Participants: 15-20 teachers/DECA advisors Professional Development – 60-90 minutes

Idea Challenge

A featured event of GEW, the DECA Idea Challenge is a competition that asks students to find a new use for a common, everyday object. Student Teams have eight days to create as much value as possible for the object and share their results in a 3-minute video posted to YouTube. On November 7, DECA Inc. will announce the object. Video submissions are due by November 16th.
