While the University of Wisconsin hosted a top-notch week of activities during Global Entrepreneurship Week, Joan Gillman decided to go a few steps further,
and turn her GEW experience into a truly global one. Gillman, who works in the Office of Corporate Relations and Wisconsin School of Business, was invited by a colleague in Skopje, Macedonia, to participate in their country's program.
So, Gillman spent the Week with academics and entrepreneurs from the European University of Skopje and their Youth Entrepreneurial Service Incubator, discussing the state of entreprenuership and the business climate in general in Macedonia. She also gave a speech about entreprneurship to over 100 students at American University in Skopje and was interviewed by Macedonian TV.
The Week kicked off with an opening ceremony featuring the Ambassadors from Norway and Austria, as well as several others from the Macedonian government, including the Deputy Prime Minister. Gillman tracked the adventure in a blog.
