What do you get when you combine an open mic, a cocktail and an entrepreneur? The answer is Bloblive, a new trend in networking that creates a relaxed forum for pitching business ideas.
Billed as a marriage of the quick elevator pitch of the business world and an open mic night at a club, restaurants and bars are hosting events around the country that encourage current and would-be entrepreneurs to present their ideas to like-minded strangers, for gaining feedback to help focus their concepts or find partners.
Bloblive – “blob” being the unrefined business idea – began in fall of 2008 and has since expanded, with multiple events each month in the Los Angeles area and Philadelphia. And organizers, from the credit card issuer Advanta Corp., are looking to expand.
