For over 60 years, the DECA organization has been preparing students to be successful leaders through various entrepreneurial endeavors on the high school and collegiate level worldwide. This year, DECA worked to actively promote GEW 2012, November 12-18th and partner registration, at their International Career Development Conference. The sign-up booth at the conference allowed over 100 new DECA chapters to register on the GEW / USA site, further solidifying DECA as one of GEW’s most active partners.

In 2010, DECA hosted two events during GEW/USA. The Ultimate Power Trip Conference in Washington D.C., gave over 2,000 students the opportunity to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills through workshops and learning sessions over two days. DECA also hosted the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference in San Diego, which challenged teams of four to five members to present a 10-minute presentation on a given scenario, to business executives serving as venture capitalists.

DECA has worked hard to mobilize its network of students on both the high school and college level to participate and create their own activities during GEW. Last year, DECA challenged its chapters to participate in the GEW 2011 Campaign, by holding various school outreach entrepreneurship activities, sharing DECA alumni success stories and holding community outreach entrepreneurship activities. Chapters that held two of each were recognized as Pinnacle Level winners and those that held five of each were recognized as Summit Level winners. In addition, they always devote a section of their DECA Dimensions magazine to highlighting the success of the year’s GEW celebration.

GEW would like to thank DECA for continuously promoting the entrepreneurial spirit on the high school and collegiate level. With the over 100 new partners and the over 60 already existing, DECA is sure find even more success as they begin gearing up for GEW 2012.
