Southern Governors Setting the Tone
Nov 14, 2011
Who wants to turn more ideas into realities? Southern Governors do.
Tennessee’s leadership is serious about entrepreneurship. On the opening day of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Michael Burcham, CEO of StartupTN and the Entrepreneur Center met with the Southern Governors Conference to discuss the role of government in creating the most effective entrepreneurial ecosystems and spreading best practices for supporting entrepreneurs throughout the South.
A hot topic at the meeting was the kickoff of Tennessee’s Startup Tennessee initiative, which just recently announced awarding nine accelerators government funding as part of a public-private partnership to help more entrepreneurs create more jobs. It’s going to be a lot of work, but the results should be tremendous – isn’t that what entrepreneurship is all about?
As Julius tells Bertier in Remember the Titans, “attitude reflects leadership.” If that’s the case, there’s no better way to kick off Global Entrepreneurship Week / Tennessee and our neighbor states with a meeting of our leaders discussing entrepreneurship.
Having all of the South’s governors in one place talking about how to help entrepreneurs?
That’s an idea that became a beautiful reality.
