Last month, we took a quick look at what Achievers International had planned for Global Entrepreneurship Week. Student groups are making elevator pitch videos about their proposed companies or products. They will also touch upon how they came up with their product ideas and how they intend to manage the company.
Recently, the team at Achievers International gave us an update on some of the schools entering the competition:
- Gesamtschule Petershagen/Eggersdorf – Brandenburg, Germany
They are currently partnered with two schools through Achievers International; Ballymoney High School in Northern Ireland, and Rossview High School in Tennessee, USA. The student company is attending a Mini-Business Fair in Berlin in November and plan to film their business and activities at this fair. - Moyamba School of Technology and Computer Studies - Moyamba, Sierra Leone
The Moyamba School of Technology and Computer Studies provide free internet and computer access to all schools in the Moyamba district of Sierra Leone (near Freetown). They are partnered with a school in England during this programme year. Other schools in the Moyamba district (and some other districts) visit this school weekly to access the internet and the IT facilities. - Luella High School – Georgia, USA
Luella High School is based in Henry County, Georgia. This school is partnered with Carolus Clusius College in the Netherlands, and Jamasi Methodist School from Ghana. Their company name is Y.E.L.L ! (Young Entrepreneurs Leading Luella). - Zhudong Junior High School – Hsinchu, Taiwan
This is the first Achievers International school from Taiwan. They are currently partnered with Outwood Academy Valley in the UK. Their company name is 108 International Trading Company, here is a segment from their company profile on the Achievers website: “Our company is located in Zhudong, Hsinchu, Taiwan. There are 30 student members in the company. We are about 13 years old. We are young and unexperienced, but we would like to explore the world out there and have a taste of international trading”. - IES Leonardo da Vinci – Alicante, Spain
This is another Achievers debutant. They are currently in a 3-way trading partnership with Ecole Privee Fieldgen in Luxembourg and Skinners’ Academy in London, England. I believe they plan to make a joint video with Ecole Privee Fieldgen in Luxembourg as they will be visiting one another in November. - Ecole Privée Fieldgen – Luxembourg
They are involved in a 3-way partnership with IES Leonardo da Vinci and Skinners’ Academy [see above]. They have been involved in Achievers for a number of years and have had a number of different student companies. - Mercer Island High School – Washington, USA
Mercer Island has its own official student company called Mercer Trade Inc with their own website and organizational structure - http://www.mercertradeinc.com/. They have had many wonderful partnerships over the years through Achievers International – this year they are partnered with schools in Ghana, Spain and England.
