According to a recent article from the Southeast Missourian, area high school students will compete for $10,000 in prizes in a business plan competition during Global Entrepreneurship Week/USA — from November 15 - 21, 2010.
The contest, sponsored by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Southeast Missouri State University, offers the chance to win seed money to turn ideas into real-life ventures.
Dr. James Stapleton, director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, said the rationale behind the competition was to get young people interested in being entrepreneurs as a means to promote regional development.
Dr. Stapleton, you won’t be alone — last year more than 1,000 organizations across the US conducted business plan competitions and other activities to celebrate the power of entrepreneurship to build economies and improve lives.
Stay tuned for more information on this and other activities scheduled for Global Entrepreneurship Week/USA.
