We have recently declared Kansas City as the Capital of GEW/USA, hosting nearly 40 events and mobilizing local chambers of commerce, government organizations, universities, and businesses to come together and celebrate.
The Kauffman Foundation hosted a number of events including Startup @ Kauffman Demo Day featuring presentations and demonstrations from the most promising startups from Kansas City and throughout the Midwest.
Nearly 350 people made it to the “Break a World Record” Speed Networking event, to try and help Kansas City secure a place in the Guinness world record book for the most people attending a business speed networking event in a single venue. They even utilized Instagram to commemorate the week; having participants upload photos depicting the 2012 celebration using the hashtag #GEWKC.
Kansas City will continue GEW this weekend as they participate in Startup Weekend that kicks off today. The 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation will conclude another successful GEW in Kansas City.
The following video from KC Public Television, highlights GEW in the region and follows entrepreneurs as they presented their business pitches during Kauffman’s Demo Day event.
