GSEA 2012 Has Begun But There is Still Time to Sign Up

The Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) has kicked off the 2012 competition year with a bang! The GSEA Nerve Eastern Regional competition was held on April 18 in Atlanta, GA in conjunction with the EO NERVE Eastern Regional Conference. Four students presented their businesses to a panel of 10 EO member judges. The winner was Mikhail Naumov, a senior studying Supply Chain Management and Media Studies at Rutgers University. Mikhail's company is GREEN, LLC, which stands for Global Renewable Energy Education Network. GREEN is an experiential learning program that transforms clean tech education, brings classrooms to reality and accelerates careers around the world. Mikhail will compete at the Global Finals in November. The runner-up of this competition was Quinn Worden, owner of PT United, a student at the University of Miami. The other two competitors were Ryan Kulp, owner of Mylar Designs, a student at Georgia State University, and Ryan Rossi, owner of Paradigm Wear, a student at Susquehanna University.
GSEA partner organization Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) held their Student Entrepreneur of the Year competition on May 9, in Calgary, AB as a part of their National Exposition. The winner of this competition was Brett Sheffield, owner of Sheffield Farms and Stay Fit Health Club, a student at the University of Manitoba. Sheffield Farms is a grain farm in rural Manitoba, founded in 2008, and Stay Fit Health Club is a 24-hour fitness center in its first year of operation. Brett will represent Canada at the Global Finals this November. The other competitors at the Student Entrepreneur of the Year competition were Matias Marquez, owner of Buyatab Online Inc., student at Simon Fraser University; Zakir Hussein, owner of Organo Energy Inc., student at the University of Calgary; Hannah Bell, owner of The Solution Agency Inc., student at University of Prince Edward Island; Michelle Barbour, owner of Tutoring for Young Minds, student at Memorial University of Newfoundland; and Marc-Andre Moreau, owner of Awake Coding Consulting, student at Concordia University.

Upcoming competitions will be held in the US in Detroit on September 14, 2012 (in conjunction with the EO THRIVE Regional Conference), in South Florida and in Seattle (in conjunction with the EO Alchemy Regional Conference) in Oct. 2012, and in Chicago on Nov. 2 (in conjunction with the CEO Annual National Conference). Other countries hosting competitions include Australia, Puerto Rico, Sweden, India, Slovakia, Mexico, Ghana, Malaysia, and Turkey.
