GEW/USA partner, the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) focused on promoting entrepreneurship through community colleges, has named its first-ever NACCE Fellows. The one-year fellowships will include applied research in entrepreneurship education and will improve NACCE’s educational offerings to members.
Although GEW/USA is celebrated during one week each November, it is fueled by the year-round efforts of more than 1,000 partners throughout the country. Each week, we highlight how our partners continue to further their entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Below are some examples:
- A Melborne, Florida based team that hopes to create an online jukebox app for mom-and-pop restaurants took top honors at this year’s Jacksonville Startup Weekend. Hosted by iStart Jax, the 54-hour Startup Weekend workshop/networking event helps aspiring entrepreneurs to develop their startup ideas and test whether they are viable.
- Rising Tide Capital out of New Jersey is hosting the Community Business Academy, a 12-week course offering hands-on training in the fundamentals of starting and growing a successful business. All accepted students receive a full tuition waiver thanks to the generosity of our funding partners—Register now for this information session.
- Wallingford, Connecticut will get a unique lesson in global business as part of a Junior Achievement student exchange program that will bring 20 Chinese students to the campus of Yale University in New Haven this summer.
If you are a GEW partner and would like us to feature your organization’s event on our weekly update, please send event information to cgrieco@unleashingideas.org.
