Global Entrepreneurship Week/USA starts off with a laugh this year at Southeast Missouri State University when The Second City performs on November 12 at the Bedell Performance Hall. The Second City is the legendary improv-based sketch comedy group that launched the careers of dozens of instantly recognizable comedians—including Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Mike Myers and Tina Fey as well as core cast members of Saturday Night Live when it launched in the 1970s (John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and Gilda Radner). The improvisational spirit of its touring group is bound to inspire any entrepreneur in the audience.

In other news from GEW/USA partners:

  • Stephen M. Curtis, president of Community College of Philadelphia, promotes community college student entrepreneurship by joining forces with the Presidents for Entrepreneurship Forum: a new subset of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship.
  • Maintaining internet security without using passwords? The winner of the recent Las Vegas Startup Weekend has pitched a program to do just that.
  • There is sure to be more creativity and ingenuity at the upcoming Startup Weekend in Memphis, and today is the last chance to sign up at a reduced rate.
  • Business development organization Ann Arbor SPARK will again be partnering with GEW to bring entrepreneurs in the Ann Arbor MI Region networking events Nov. 13-14. Get more information here.
