The United States was one of 96 countries represented at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Shanghai, China. The Congress offers participants the opportunity to hear about research aimed at advancing entrepreneurship, brainstorm with other host organization about the Week, receive guidance from other successful GEW campaigns, celebrate national and global success stories and learn about official plans for GEW 2011.
The Congress gave GEW/USA an opportunity to expand our understanding of strategic communications and targeted media outreach as discussed by hosts from other countries, including Brazil and Turkey. Several countries have had successful major events that we will be sharing at the National and Regional Forums.
As part of the celebration, awards are given to hosts who excelled in certain aspects of organizing successful GEW campaigns. While GEW/USA did not win any of these awards, we did come in 3rd overall in the number of activities, 2nd in overall number of partners and received honorable mentions for the Compass Award and Country of the Year Award. After learning from others around the world we have no doubt, that with the help our partners, we will be able to win one of these prestigious awards next year.
