Florida

Nov 16, 2010

Given the line-up of GEW activities in the Miami area, it’s easy to understand see why the 2009 Kauffman Index of Entrepreneurial Activity found the Miami metropolitan area to have a high level of entrepreneurial activity.
Regional Coordinator for the Miami Area, Susan Amat, has built a strong network of GEW partners that have collectively planned more than forty events for the Week that offer a wide variety of topics. Amat has also engaged the Miami Herald in GEW at the Launch Pad at the University of Miami, where she is the Executive Director.
The following is a few highlights from the Launch Pad’s line-up:

Hear the pitches of 22 finalists, the judges’ feedback, and who will share $100,00 in prizes

  • Women in Entrepreneurship (Wednesday)

Hear talks on attracting investors, marketing and products, and a luncheon keynote address by Dr. Leslie Baumann, CEO of Baumann Cosmetic & Research Institute and Skin Type Solutions

  • An Afternoon with Fashion Entrepreneurs (Friday) Showcase of South Florida’s up-and-coming designers and trend-setters plus panel discussions
