Each year, thousands of activities, events, and competitions take place throughout the U.S. during Global Entrepreneurship Week—with a handful standing out as ‘featured activities’. Among those featured activities of GEW/USA 2012 are three competitions focused on helping entrepreneurs take the next step.
- The World Series of Innovation is a competition presented by one of our national partners, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). It’s an opportunity for students to think creatively and invent new products or services that address every-day opportunities. Schools, teachers, and host organizations can register online and receive a basic toolkit for the challenge. There will be two winning teams per category: one chosen by a committee of elite judges from the sponsoring organization, and one chosen by popular vote through our online voting platform during Global Entrepreneurship Week. The deadline to submit your idea is Friday October 26th. Get more information about the challenge at http://innovation.nfte.com/.
- The Tulsa Community College StartUp Cup is a USA business model competition. To date, over 600 entrepreneurs have participated and StartUp Cup has been directly involved in the launch of over 68 new startups, and the creation of more than 300 new jobs in the Tulsa region. On November 13th, after participating in an intensive seven-month competitive business building process, the winners of the TCC StartUp Cup will be announced during TulsaGEW. Get more information about the TCC StartUp Cup at http://tcc.startupcup.com/.
- The PITCH NYC Conference presented by Women 2.0 will be held on November 14th. The all day event will feature top speakers who have started and successfully lead companies in the high-tech or high-growth space, including industries like health, fashion, entertainment and sports. The event will also feature the finalists from the PITCH NYC 2012 Startup Competition who will pitch onstage in front of the audience and live judging panel for prizes including $25k cash.
